Apostil.am provides Armenian Swedish translation in both directions, Armenian to Swedish and Swedish to Armenian: certificates, diplomas, Swedish population register extracts, employment contracts and technical manuals. We work with a network of professional freelance translators and editors who know Swedish official terminology and Scandinavian document formats. If the receiving authority also accepts English, we will help you choose between a Swedish and an English translation. Stamped translation is ordered online; for notarized translation, we go to the notary for you.

When you need Swedish translation

Swedish is the official language of Sweden and one of the official languages of Finland. Typical situations:

  • Residence permits: applications to the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket) based on work, study or family ties usually include birth and marriage certificates, diplomas and employment references.
  • Registration in Sweden: to be entered in the population register at the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) and receive a personal identity number (personnummer), civil status documents are needed.
  • Marriage in Sweden: foreign nationals are usually asked for a document from their home country confirming their marital status, which we translate from Armenian.
  • Study: diplomas, supplements and transcripts for Swedish universities and for the evaluation of foreign qualifications.
  • Children born in Sweden: to register a child’s birth or citizenship in Armenia, the Swedish personbevis (population register extract) is translated into Armenian.
  • Business: import contracts for Swedish equipment and vehicles, Bolagsverket registration certificates, technical documentation.

Documents we translate

In both directions: Swedish documents into Armenian for Armenian authorities, notaries and banks, and Armenian documents into Swedish for use in Sweden.

Personal and civil status

  • birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates
  • personbevis, Swedish marriage certificate (vigselbevis), passports, residence cards
  • police clearance, certificate of marital status, powers of attorney

Education

  • diplomas with supplements, transcripts, school certificates, Swedish gymnasieexamen

Legal and corporate

  • articles of association, registration certificates, contracts, court decisions, inheritance documents

Medical

  • medical reports, discharge summaries, vaccination records

Technical and commercial

  • manuals, safety data sheets, websites, product descriptions

In Swedish documents we take care with names and addresses containing å, ä and ö, with the personal identity number format and with administrative terms that have no direct Armenian equivalent; for those we keep the Swedish original in brackets.

Stamped vs notarized translation

A stamped (agency-certified) translation is fully online: send a scan, receive a PDF with the agency stamp by e-mail, and collect the paper copy at our office or by courier in Yerevan. It is handy for the online applications common with Swedish authorities.

A notarized translation needs the original or a notarized copy, to which the notary binds the translation. It cannot be done online or from a scan; the scan is only for the quote. We visit the notary for you.

Apostil.am does not issue apostilles. In Armenia they are issued by the RA Ministry of Justice (civil status, notarial, court and other official documents) and the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (educational documents). We advise free of charge, can submit the application on your behalf (state fee 7,000 AMD per apostille) and then translate the document together with the apostille.

Requirements in Sweden

Armenia and Sweden are both parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, so consular legalization is generally not needed; an apostille is enough.

  • Armenian documents for Sweden: apostille in Armenia first, then translation. Swedish authorities often accept documents in English, and in some cases ask for a translation by an authorised translator (auktoriserad translator), authorised by Kammarkollegiet. In that case we prepare the apostilled original and can translate it into English.
  • Swedish documents for Armenia: the apostille is obtained in Sweden, where it is usually issued by a notary public (notarius publicus). We then translate the document into Armenian and have it notarized in Yerevan.
  • Consular matters: contact the competent Swedish embassy or consulate (it may be accredited from another country).

Language and certification rules differ between authorities, so check with the receiving authority which translation they accept before ordering.
