Armenian Bulgarian translation is what you need when Armenian documents go to Bulgarian authorities, universities or business partners, and Bulgarian to Armenian translation is needed when a document issued in Bulgaria must be accepted in Armenia. Apostil.am, based in Yerevan, handles Armenian-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-Armenian translation with an agency stamp, notarization and free advice on apostille requirements. We work with a network of professional freelance translators and editors who know both Bulgarian legal terminology and the format of Armenian official documents.

Bulgarian is written in Cyrillic and looks close to Russian, but false friends, name transliteration and Bulgarian administrative terms are exactly where errors appear.

When you need Armenian to Bulgarian translation

Bulgaria is an EU member state and a popular destination for Armenians who study, work, buy property or open a company abroad. The country has a historic Armenian community, especially in Plovdiv, as well as in Sofia, Varna and Burgas. Typical situations include:

  • Visa and residence: birth and marriage certificates, police clearance certificate, proof of income and family reunification documents.
  • Study: admission to Bulgarian universities and recognition of diplomas, with school certificates, diplomas and transcripts.
  • Work: employment contracts, qualification certificates and letters confirming work experience.
  • Business and property: company registration, buying an apartment on the Black Sea coast, powers of attorney, articles of association and bank statements.
  • Imports: supply contracts (cosmetics, rose oil, wine), certificates and labels.
  • The other direction: Armenians living in Bulgaria who register a marriage, settle an inheritance or apply for citizenship in Armenia need their Bulgarian papers translated into Armenian.

Documents we translate

We work in both directions: Armenian documents into Bulgarian for use abroad, and Bulgarian documents into Armenian for Armenian state bodies, notaries and courts.

Certified (stamped) vs notarized translation

A certified translation with the agency stamp is fully online: you send a scan, receive the stamped PDF by e-mail and collect the paper copy at our office or get it by courier within Yerevan. It is the fastest option.

A notarized translation requires the original document or a notarized copy in physical form, because the notary binds the translation to it. A scan is only used to estimate the price. We visit the notary on your behalf, so you do not have to.

We do not issue apostilles. In Armenia the apostille is issued by the state: the RA Ministry of Justice (civil status, notarial, court and other official documents) and the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (educational documents). We advise free of charge, can submit the apostille application for you (state fee 7,000 AMD per apostille), and then translate the document together with the apostille.

Requirements in Bulgaria: apostille and official translation

Armenia and Bulgaria are both parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, so consular legalization is generally not needed. An Armenian document receives an Armenian apostille; a Bulgarian document receives a Bulgarian apostille, issued in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria has one specific feature: many state bodies expect a so-called official translation made by translation companies registered with the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If that is what your authority requires, we will tell you honestly, prepare the apostilled original and, if useful, a translation into Bulgarian or English that a local agency can work from. Universities, employers and private partners frequently accept a notarized or stamped translation made in Armenia.

To use Bulgarian documents in Armenia you will usually need a Bulgarian apostille and a notarized Armenian translation. Visa applications are filed with the Bulgarian embassy or its authorized visa center. In every case, check with the receiving authority which translation they accept.

How to order

  1. Send a scan or photo via WhatsApp, e-mail or the calculator form.
  2. We confirm the price and deadline and tell you whether an apostille is needed.
  3. For notarized translation, bring the original to our Yerevan office or send it by courier; international courier from Bulgaria works too.
  4. Receive the PDF by e-mail and the paper copy at the office or by delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Armenian Bulgarian translation cost?

Basic translation costs 4,000 AMD per page (1,800 characters), the Business package with proofreading 5,000 AMD, and the Extra package 6,000 AMD. Notarization adds 6,000 AMD per document.

Can I order a notarized translation online?

You can get a quote from a scan, but for notarization the original or a notarized copy must physically reach us, since the notary binds the translation to it. The fully online option is a certified translation with our stamp.

Will Bulgaria accept a translation made in Armenia?

Often yes, especially universities and employers. Some state bodies, however, require an official translation by a company registered with the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Check with the receiving authority in advance.

Does a Bulgarian birth certificate need an apostille for Armenia?

As a rule, yes. The apostille is issued in Bulgaria; we then translate the certificate together with the apostille and have it notarized in Yerevan.

How do you spell names?

Exactly as in the passport. If there is no passport, tell us the preferred spelling in advance so it matches across all your documents.
