Need an Armenian Georgian translation? Apostil.am handles Armenian to Georgian and Georgian to Armenian translation in Yerevan, so you do not have to look for a translator in Tbilisi. We translate personal, academic, legal and commercial documents with our agency stamp or with notarization. Georgia is Armenia’s closest neighbour, and paperwork crosses the border every day. Our network of professional freelance translators and editors knows the Georgian script, name transliteration and official terminology. All our translation services are also available remotely.

When you need a Georgian translation

Georgian is the state language of Georgia, and local authorities, notaries, banks and universities generally expect a Georgian translation. A large Armenian community lives in Tbilisi and Javakheti, and many Georgian citizens study and work in Armenia. Common reasons to contact us:

  • Doing business in Georgia: registering an LLC or an individual entrepreneur, opening a bank account, shareholder resolutions, powers of attorney.
  • Property: buying an apartment in Tbilisi or Batumi, sale and lease agreements, a power of attorney for a relative or lawyer.
  • Marriage: couples marrying in Georgia often need translated birth certificates and proof of marital status; a Georgian marriage certificate needs an Armenian translation for use in Armenia.
  • Study: applying to universities in Tbilisi, translating school certificates and diplomas, and having a Georgian diploma recognised in Armenia.
  • Armenians from Javakheti: Georgian documents issued in Akhalkalaki or Ninotsminda for residence, citizenship, employment or education in Armenia.

Documents we translate

We work in both directions: Georgian documents into Armenian for Armenian authorities, notaries and banks, and Armenian documents into Georgian for use in Georgia.

Personal and civil status documents

  • passports, ID cards, birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates
  • certificates of marital status, registered address and no criminal record
  • driving licences, powers of attorney, parental consent for a child’s travel

Education

  • school certificates, diplomas and supplements, academic transcripts, curricula, reference letters

Legal and corporate

  • articles of association, certificates of registration, register extracts, shareholder resolutions
  • contracts, court decisions, certificates of inheritance, property title documents

Medical

  • doctors’ reports, discharge summaries, test results, vaccination records

Technical and commercial

  • manuals, certificates, product descriptions, quotations, websites and marketing materials

Names deserve special care: in Georgian documents an Armenian surname may take a Georgian ending (for example “-iani” instead of “-yan”). We match every name to the passport.

Stamped vs notarized translation

A stamped (agency-certified) translation is fully online: you send a scan, receive a PDF bearing our agency stamp by e-mail, and collect the paper copy at our office or get it by courier in Yerevan. It is the fastest option and is often enough for banks and private companies.

A notarized translation requires the physical original (or a notarized copy), because the notary binds the translation to it. A scan is only used to quote the price; notarized translations cannot be made from a scan. We go to the notary for you.

Apostil.am does not issue apostilles. In Armenia the apostille is issued by the state: the RA Ministry of Justice (civil status, notarial, court and other official documents) and the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (educational documents). We offer free advice, can submit the apostille application on your behalf (state fee 7,000 AMD per apostille) and then translate the document together with the apostille. Georgian documents receive their apostille in Georgia.

Requirements in Georgia

Armenia and Georgia are both parties to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention, so consular legalization is normally not needed; where required, an official document is certified with an apostille. Georgian institutions such as the Public Service Hall, notaries, banks and universities usually accept a translation notarized in Armenia, with an apostille where one is required. In some cases, however, they may ask for the translation to be made or certified in Georgia by a Georgian notary.

If a Georgian document is going to be used in Armenia, the apostille is obtained in Georgia and we prepare the notarized Armenian translation in Yerevan. Either way, always check with the receiving authority which translation they accept.

How to order

  1. Send a scan or photo of the document via WhatsApp, e-mail or the calculator form.
  2. We confirm the price and deadline and agree on the spelling of names and the type of certification.
  3. For a notarized translation, bring the original to our office or send it by courier; clients abroad can use an international courier service.
  4. Receive the finished translation as a PDF, plus the paper copy at the office or by delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Georgian translation cost?

The Basic package is 4,000 AMD per page (1,800 characters with spaces), Business is 5,000 AMD and Extra is 7,000 AMD. Notarization adds 6,000 AMD per document. We confirm the exact price after seeing the scan.

Can I get a notarized translation online from a scan?

No. A notarized translation needs the original or a notarized copy, because the notary binds the translation to it. A scan is enough for a quote, and the fully online option is our stamped translation.

Does my Armenian document need an apostille for Georgia?

Both countries are parties to the Hague Convention, so consular legalization is usually unnecessary, while an apostille is often required for official documents. It is issued by the RA Ministry of Justice or Ministry of Education, and we can file the application for you. Please confirm the requirement with the receiving authority.

We married in Georgia. What do we need to use the certificate in Armenia?

Usually the Georgian marriage certificate with an apostille obtained in Georgia, plus a notarized Armenian translation. We translate both the certificate and the apostille. Check the exact procedure with the civil registry office.

How do you spell names in a Georgian translation?

We follow the passport or previously issued documents and agree a single spelling with you before we start, so it is identical across all documents.
