Czech Embassy in Yerevan: which translation you need for visa documents
The Czech Embassy in Yerevan has two different translation requirements: one for short-stay (Schengen) visas and one for long-stay visas and residence permits. If you mix them up, your documents may be refused and you will have to translate them again. Below is a summary of what the embassy requires in each case.
Schengen visa (up to 90 days)
The embassy’s Schengen visa document list states: “All the documents written in Armenian, must be translated into English or Russian and have a stamp of the translator.” In other words, every Armenian document must be translated into English or Russian and carry the translator’s stamp.
In the general part of the list, the following are named as proof of ties to Armenia and of sufficient means:
- a recent letter from the employer stating the salary (issued no more than a month ago),
- a bank statement for the last three months,
- proof of property ownership (cars, flats or other real estate).
In the business section, individual entrepreneurs are asked for the registration of their company in the state register. Entrepreneurs also often submit SRC documents to prove their income; see our article on translating tax documents for how they are translated.
Apostil.am does exactly this kind of translation: Armenian to English or Armenian to Russian, certified with our agency stamp, fully online.
Long-stay visa and residence permit
Here the requirement is strict. According to the embassy’s website, documents must be submitted in a Czech translation certified by a court interpreter listed in the Register of Court Interpreters of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic. If the interpreter is no longer in the register, the document will not be accepted. Contact details of registered interpreters are available at seznat.justice.cz.
This means that a translation stamped by an Armenian translation agency, ours included, is not accepted for long-stay visas and residence permits. In that case, contact a Czech court interpreter from the register. Also note that the embassy’s website currently lists its translation verification service as “Out of order”.
In short
- Schengen visa: English or Russian, with the translator’s stamp. Can be ordered in Yerevan, online.
- Long-stay visa, residence permit: Czech, by a court interpreter registered in the Czech register.
What to check before you apply
- Names must be spelled in the translation exactly as in your international passport. Send us the passport page together with your order.
- If you are translating several documents, order them together so that terms and names are identical in all of them.
- SRC and bank statements are issued as of a certain date, so obtain them shortly before you apply.
- Check the current version of the list on the embassy’s website, as requirements may change.
Send your documents through our price calculator or on WhatsApp: +374 33 130371 and mention that you are applying to the Czech Embassy. We will tell you the price and deadline.
