When you need Korean translation
Korean is the official language of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Typical cases:
- Studying in Korea: university admission, Korean language programmes and scholarship applications usually require a diploma, transcript and birth certificate, sometimes a police clearance.
- Work and residence: employment contracts with Korean employers, professional diplomas, employment references and medical certificates.
- Marriage and family: when marrying a Korean citizen, the Korean 가족관계증명서 (family relation certificate), 기본증명서 (basic certificate) and 혼인관계증명서 (marriage relation certificate) are translated into Armenian, and Armenian birth and marriage certificates into Korean.
- Medical treatment in Korea: medical history, lab results and MRI reports for a Korean hospital, then the discharge summary back into Armenian for your doctor at home.
- Trade and imports: contracts with Korean suppliers, invoices, certificates of conformity, manuals and labels for electronics, car parts and cosmetics.
- Korean companies in Armenia: 사업자등록증 (business registration certificate), powers of attorney and corporate documents for the State Register, banks or notaries.

Stamped vs notarized translation
A stamped (agency-certified) translation is fully online: you send a scan, we e-mail you a PDF bearing the agency stamp, and you collect the paper copy at our Yerevan office or receive it by courier in Yerevan. It is the fastest option.
A notarized translation requires the original document (or a notarized copy) in person, because the notary binds the translation to it. Notarized translation from a scan or online is not possible; a scan is only used to quote the price. We go to the notary on your behalf, so you do not need to attend.
Please note that Apostil.am does not issue apostilles. In Armenia they are issued by the state: the RA Ministry of Justice (civil status, notarial, court and other official documents) and the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (educational documents). We offer free advice, can submit the application for you (state fee 7,000 AMD per apostille) and then translate the document together with the apostille.
Requirements in Korea: apostille and local certification
Armenia and the Republic of Korea are both parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an apostille generally replaces consular legalization.
- Armenian documents for Korea: apostille in Armenia first, then translation into Korean including the apostille, and notarization if required.
- Korean documents for Armenia: the apostille is obtained in Korea, the country that issued the document. We then translate it into Armenian and have it notarized.
- Translations certified in Korea: Korean authorities and universities often accept translations notarized in Armenia, but some require the translation to be certified in Korea itself (번역공증). In that case we prepare the apostilled original and can translate it into English if the receiving side accepts that.
- Consular matters: contact the competent Korean embassy or consulate (it may be accredited from another country).
Before ordering, always check with the receiving authority which type of translation they accept.
