Our Armenian Persian translation service in Yerevan covers both directions: Armenian to Persian and Persian (Farsi) to Armenian. It is used by Iranian citizens who live and do business in Armenia, by Armenian companies trading with Iranian partners and by Iranian Armenians. Apostil.am translates personal, academic, legal, medical and commercial documents, with our agency stamp or with notarization. We work with a network of professional freelance translators and editors who know how Iranian official documents are structured, how the Iranian calendar works and how Persian names are transliterated. When you need a Persian translation

Persian is the official language of Iran; its varieties Dari and Tajik are used in Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Iran is Armenia’s southern neighbour, a historic Armenian community lives in Tehran and Isfahan (New Julfa), and many Iranians study, work and invest in Armenia. Typical situations:

  • Residence in Armenia: translating the shenasnameh, marriage document and police clearance for a residence card.
  • Business and investment: registering a company or opening a bank account in Armenia, articles of association of an Iranian company, extracts from Iran’s Official Gazette (Ruznameh-ye Rasmi).
  • Property: buying an apartment in Yerevan, powers of attorney, title documents for property in Iran.
  • Study: Iranian school and university diplomas and transcripts for admission or diploma recognition in Armenia.
  • Marriage: marriages between Armenian and Iranian citizens, certificates of marital status, translation of Iranian marriage documents.
  • Import and export: supply contracts, invoices, certificates of origin, technical product descriptions.

Documents we translate

We translate Iranian documents into Armenian for the Migration Service, notaries, banks and universities in Armenia, and Armenian documents into Persian for use in Iran.

  • marriage and divorce documents, death certificate, police clearance, driving licence, powers of attorney

Iranian documents usually give dates in the Solar Hijri (Iranian) calendar, for example the year 1403, often written with Persian digits. We convert every date to the Gregorian calendar and, where useful, keep the original date in brackets. Short vowels are normally not written in Persian, so we check names against the Latin spelling in the passport.

Stamped vs notarized translation

A stamped (agency-certified) translation is fully online: send a scan, receive a PDF with our stamp by e-mail, and pick up the paper copy at our office or get it by courier in Yerevan. It suits banks, business partners and private companies.

A notarized translation requires the physical original or a notarized copy, because the notary binds the translation to it. It cannot be made from a scan; the scan is only for the quote. We go to the notary for you. Armenian state bodies generally require a notarized translation.

Apostil.am does not issue apostilles. In Armenia they are issued by the RA Ministry of Justice (civil status, notarial, court and other official documents) and the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (educational documents). We advise free of charge and can submit the application on your behalf (state fee 7,000 AMD per apostille). For Iran, however, an apostille is generally not enough.

Requirements in Iran: consular legalization

Iran is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Armenian documents for Iranian authorities generally go through consular legalization: first at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yerevan. Whether the original or the notarized translation is legalized depends on the document, and we will explain the sequence in advance. Some Iranian institutions may require a translation made in Iran by an official translator licensed by the judiciary.

Iranian documents for use in Armenia are usually legalized by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Armenian embassy or consulate in Iran; we then produce the notarized Persian to Armenian translation. Rules change, so always check with the receiving authority which translation they accept.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Farsi translation cost?

Basic is 5,000 AMD per page, Business 6,000 AMD and Extra 8,000 AMD. For documents such as a shenasnameh the price depends on the actual volume. Notarization adds 6,000 AMD per document.

Can I get a notarized translation online from a scan?

No, the original or a notarized copy is required. A scan is enough for a quote, and the stamped translation is the fully online option. From Iran, the original can be sent by international courier.

Is an apostille enough for a document used in Iran?

Generally not, because Iran is not a party to the Hague Convention. Consular legalization at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iranian Embassy in Yerevan is usually required. Check current requirements with the receiving authority or the embassy.

How do you handle Iranian calendar dates?

We convert them to the Gregorian calendar and, where needed, keep the original date in brackets. Each date is checked individually, since the Iranian year begins at Nowruz, around 20-21 March.

I have an English translation made in Iran. Will it be accepted in Armenia?

Armenian state bodies usually require a notarized Armenian translation. It is best to translate from the Persian original; we can also translate the English version if the receiving authority allows it. Please check in advance.
